Spaces Available for the 2011-12 School Year
Now offering a full day kindergarten option and a 4-hour option for preschoolers.
Choosing a preschool for your child is an exciting venture, and we're pleased to be a part of this process. We strongly encourage parents to look at the many great preschools on Bainbridge Island. Visiting a variety of programs will give you the information you need to make the best decision for your child.
We accept applications at any time and will accept new children into the program whenever spaces become available. If you are interested in having your child join us during the current school year, please call us for a visit and a tour of the school. We would love to have a chance to talk to you about what you are seeking for your child and share with you our enthusiasm about our school.
Enrollment Open for the 2011-2012 School Year
We have some spaces available for the 2011-2012 school year and encourage you to come for a visit! We welcome new students any time during the school as spaces allow. If you are interested, please contact us. We would love to show you our lovely classes in action!
Enrollment for the 2012-2013 School Year
With a large group of Kindergartners graduating in June 2012, we anticipate more spaces than usual for the upcoming school year. We look forward to welcoming new families to the school.
During January and February, we begin recruitment for the following school year. For parents living nearby, a tour of the school and visit with the Director, the Information Meeting, and the Open House are a part of the application process and are designed to help you gather information about Country School. For those moving to the island from out-of-town, we look forward to a conversation with you by phone and hope that you will be able to come for a visit prior to making a decision.
If you live nearby, please join us for the following events:
Tour of the School and Classroom Observation- (call 206 842 4966 to schedule)
On the day you tour the school and observe the classrooms, you will have the opportunity to talk with the Director about your child. This is a chance for you to share with us what you are looking for in a school and to hear from the Director about our school philosophy and curriculum. Observation of the classroom will give you a touch of the magic here at MCS. It is important to plan for childcare for your child during this visit. We look forward to meeting your child at the Open House.
Information Meeting: Thursday, February 2, 2012 7:00-8:30pm (adult evening)
This is an opportunity for you to meet our teachers and to “walk through” a typical day at MCS. We will share with you our excitement for our work and will discuss our philosophy and beliefs about early childhood education. In addition, the teachers will show you some of the beautiful materials and how they fit into our curriculum.
Open House: Saturday, February 4, 2012 9-11am (children welcome!)
We look forward to meeting your child during our Open House. This is a chance for you to see how your child responds to this special environment. It is casual and relaxed.
Submitting an Application for the 2012-2013 Year
After visiting the school and attending the Information Meeting and Open House, you may still have some questions. Feel free to call us at any time during this process. If you choose to submit an application, please do so by February 15th for your child to be considered in the first round of placements. Those applying by February 15th will hear from us by the beginning of March regarding acceptance and placement for the upcoming school year. We welcome applications at any time and those applying after February 15th will hear from us within two weeks.
Placement of Students
Priority placement of students goes to our current students and their siblings. After accommodating their needs, we will begin the placement process for new students. We have learned from experience the importance of keeping our classes balanced with regard to age, gender, and ratio of new to returning students. In placing students, we keep our commitment to this balance in mind. If we are unable to accommodate your child, s/he will be placed in our Wait Pool, and you will be informed when a space becomes available.
Wait Pool
Children in our wait pool are considered for placement if and when a space becomes available. If we have been unable to accommodate your child for the school year for which you applied, you will be notified of the enrollment period for the following year. Please be sure to keep us apprised of your contact information if it changes. Parents must submit a new application if they want their child to be considered for placement for the next school year; you do not need to pay a second application fee.
Financial Aid We have a financial aid program. Please call the office for a Financial Application Form if you would like to apply. The form must be submitted at the time you submit your application for enrollment. The financial aid committee will inform you of its decision regarding your financial aid request prior to the Enrollment Agreement deadline.
Nondiscrimination Policy
Montessori Country School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin in the administering of it programs, admissions or financial aid awards.
