Opening Classroom Schedules for 2008/2009
We have found that dividing the classes in half and having shortened sessions during the adjustment period makes a world of difference for the children and helps set the tone for the entire year. It gives the children an opportunity to learn and review the basic workings of the classroom with a smaller group, and to adjust to the larger group within a “short, but sweet" time frame, leaving them wanting more. It is important that we give them every opportunity for a successful beginning. We realize this can be an inconvenience for the parents, but we know it makes a tremendous difference for the children. Thank you for your patience during these first 7 days of school.
Primary Classes
On the first day, we ask that parents let their children know they will be helped from the car by one of their teachers.
If your child finds the separation difficult, we ask that you park (use Battle Point Parking lot/ no on-street parking) andwalk your child into class. After the first day, if your child is finding the separation difficult we ask that you stay nearby (in your car or upstairs with a good book) so that we can reach you if need be. We anticipate that most children will have made the separation by the second week of school.

Preprimary Classes
Parents of children in the preprimary class are asked to park their cars and bring their children around the side of the building to the door of their classroom. If the parking area is full, please use Battle Point Park and walk your child into class using the trail to the left of the exiting driveway. (On-street parking is prohibited by City request for safety reasons).
At the end of class parents should come to the classroom door to pick up their child. A parent of children under 30 months old must stay on the premises during the time the child is in class. The conference room next to the office is set up for this purpose. The first two weeks of class the children of each class are divided into two groups by the beginning initial of their last name. This creates a smaller class size and allows the children to bond more easily with the teachers as theymake the adjustment to school. The schedule will be as follows:
